MetTV is a student-run organization, which facilitates production and distribution of video content created by RTA students. We aim to encourage experiential learning and creation by bringing passionate students together on productions, while remaining sustainable for years to come.
The original version of what would become MetTV was founded in 2008, as RUtv News. It was a joint venture between students from the RTA School of Media, and Journalism. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic put a halt to RUtv.
Two years later, in 2022, a media production student named Jacob DeSouza pitched a renewal to the Creative School. This eventually resulted in what was named Met-TV, with Sabrina Pontello as its first president.
Since then, MetTV has dropped the hyphen, become officially affiliated with Toronto Metropolitan University, and assisted with the production of a half-dozen shows.
